The Library will host a screening of the 1967 version of “Far from the Madding Crowd”, an award-winning film starring Julie Christie. Based on Thomas Hardy’s renowned novel, this British drama focuses on Bathsheba Everdene (Julie Christie), a beautiful young woman who inherits a picturesque farm from her uncle and is determined to run it herself. Three very different suitors—an intense soldier, a middle-aged farmer and a shepherd of modest means—all contend for Bathsheba’s hand, and conflict is inevitable. Cornwall Library patron Gail Jacobson will share her personal copy of the film and John Miller will share some thoughts on the film before the showing. There is no charge but donations will be gratefully accepted for the ongoing work of the Library.
