About Our Speaker

Peter Del Tredici, Botanist, author, and senior scientist emeritus of the Arnold Arboretum, will present a brief history of lawns and the techniques used to create and maintain them. He will discuss the social and ecological issues surrounding their use in modern landscapes as well as the pros and cons of various alternatives to the lawn. His presentation concludes with a discussion of the alarming trend to replace grass athletic fields with plastic turf.

Peter’s talk will be held at Cornwall Town Hall, 24 Pine Street in Cornwall Village. The cocktail reception that follows will be held at a private garden within short walking distance.

Ticket Information:

Tickets are $30 for the talk & cocktail reception, $30 for the garden tours or $50 for both.

Upon registration, you will receive an email confirmation. Tickets/maps for the garden tour may be picked up at the Library on Friday, June 16th between 12pm and 6pm, or on Saturday, June 17th starting at 10am.
