Garden Four – A tapestry of color from spring to fall.
Ten years ago when the owners bought their Cornwall house, it already possessed a few shrubs, some perennials, three massive rhododendrons, two lilac trees, and a tree peony. Since then, they have ‘painted their landscape’ with many more perennials, including bee balm, Shasta daisies, coreopsis, dianthus, Asiatic lilies, phlox, lady’s mantle, salvia, azaleas, astilbe, crocosmia, ligularia, creeping thyme, primroses, sedum, liatris, and hundreds of daffodil bulbs. The south perimeter of the garden, well-traveled by deer, is planted with ‘deer candy’ day lilies, allowing the owners to discover which blooms survived the night and which were eaten. This also serves as a gentle reminder that their garden is appreciated by animals, albeit a little differently!
